I appreciate the link to some Igbo architecture, however I'd refrain from hyperbole (i.e. "Biggest Builders of all time") until further clarification. When exactly were those structures built?

I don't believe Amadi O had lazy people in mind when he started the thread. It was meant to be intellectually stimulating and to encourage folks to pay a little more attention to Igbo histroy. Ednut has already set the ball rolling by laying udi claims to the pyramids.

Nobody owes you any further explanation on the pictures, so do yourself a favor and go read it up yourself. Ultimately you are responsible for your own education.

Borrowing from Mazi OU, I say, "Mr. Teacher, don't teach us nonsense." lol.

What's your beef, Ed? The man, Mr. Jones on the picture has already stated where the pyramid was located, Abaja, making your claim subject for debate since the Abaja I know is in Amaigbo LGA and not Udi. What I’m saying is that anyone could lay claim to it based on that name unless you provide further proof for inquiry minds to support your claim, it may well be dismissed. The bigger picture you failed to appreciate is the fact the damn thing is located in IGBO LAND.

Mz chiboy:

As always, your wisdom is appreciated.

Mz Odogwu, we do not baby-sit or spoon-feed people on this forum. If the statement above is a "hyperbole" to you, it is your responsibility to investigate "further clarification" on these impressive ancient Igbo creations. You are likely to find that ancient Igbo culture was among the biggest builders of antiquity, with a mission to lead African renaissance once liberated from nigerian influence.

Mazi, the only reason I brought that up was that Amadi O listed were the other pictures were from but for the one from Nsude, Udi LGA the same land that produced coal for Nigeria over many years. I do not know where Abaja is or where Amaigbo is forgive me, but I know that Nsude is a part of the Agbaja people of Northern Igboland. That, the picture clearly stated.

Nwanna, at the end of your admonishment of our lost generations, I and a few others, still donot know where Amaigbo is. Is it one of the new awusa military LGA? I guess I can try googling it.

Amaigbo Nwangele Local Government, Imo State
One may ponder on the meaning of Amaigbo, It simply means the land of the Igbos, - Ama ndu Igbo. It can be implied that the history of the Igbos sprang from Amaigbo.

The town is situated in the eastern region of Nigeria; it is in Nwangele Local Government, Imo State. There are thirty seven villages in Amaigbo, each village is idiosyncratic in its cultural dance, marital rites and other ethics that the individual villages adhere to and are identified with.

Amaigbo shares boundary with Amandugba, Isu Njaba, Umózu Isu, Agbaje, Amuzari, Owerre Nkwórji, Eziama Obiaire and Nkwerre.

Amaigbo is surrounded by many rivers; these are located in strategic positions in helping to provide for the needs of the community and its neighbouring environ.

Amaigbo natives' main occupation are farming and trading. These range from small scale retailing to large entrepreneurship. The indigenes produce and sell palm produce in large quantities. They also produce and sell cash crops such as cassava, garri, maize, yam, cocoyam, tree leaf yam, fresh pepper, garden egg (ańara) and breadfruit.

The community has raised many professionals who are actively involved in major spectrums – notably, politics, religion, business ventures, international football and many others. These careers and professional development have culminated in boosting and elevating the town.

Now I am better informed about the place but it seems like it is not a local government area but a town. FYI MeBiafra.

Don't weep. Take action. [Smile]

It is truly unfortunate that such information is not taught in all primary schools in Igboland. Yet they teach our children about Mungo Park "discovering" the confluence of the river Niger and Benue (or was it the source of the River Niger? I forget).

An important question to ask is this: How can one encourage (if not enforce) the education of essential Igbo anthropology and culture to the young ones, both those in Nigeria and overseas?

Mature discussion please. I ignore the puerile rantings of fools.

Great question, no doubt the awusa contaminated education system instead of arousing the learning thoughts of children and adults, encourage an atmosphere where information such as this thread by Amadi is suppressed. It will not be beyond the nigerian baggers to fire, what am I saying, to imprison a teacher whose curriculum includes wonderful information that gives identity to the pupils by sharing the history of their environment. The antidote to the islamic lazy lifestyle that has corrupted the entire nation is for individual families, kindred, locales etc to teach and instill by emphasizing who we really are to their children. I’m afraid some if not most of our kids today think that the curse the awusa brought upon that land is the norm. It is our duties to tell them otherwise, the truth that is.

Not so fast on Agbaja, Agbaja is also in Mbaise. Before the war when Nigeria operated County council instead of Local Government. Mbaise had 5 County council wards namely:

Ahiara County council

Ekwerazu County Council

Ezinihitte West County Council

Ezinihitte East County Council

Ezinihitte Center County Council

Nguru Na Agbaja County council.

So Mebiafra we don't know yet which Agbaja those pyramid came from.

Remember Mbaise killed the first whiteman that came to Igbo land which led to whiteman's war or the war of Douglas. During the Arochukwu and Ohafia expediation. Dr Bake was killed in Mbaise on his way to Ohafia. His bicycle distroyed, which caused white man to unleash war on Mbaise people.
