Bottomline : Hezbollah won a SHORT TERM vitory which finally limits its activities within the borders of Lebanon (something which the Isrealis have been asking for years,) whereas the Isrealis won a LONG TERM victory which enables its citizens to live in peace in their own country (something which Hezbollah and their Arab and muslim sponsors never wanted to let happen,) and if need be carry the war into the enemy's territory.-Nwa-Aro
Wrong conclusion.
I put it to you that this so called victory does nothing to limit Heezbolas activities to within the borders of lebanon.
I also put it to you that this so called victory has done worse than nothing to enable israeli citizens to live in peace in their own country.
That they can carry war into another country or territory was not in doubt.
On the long run and looking at the big picture, israel may have lost more than they gained.
Note, Nwa-Aro I am not saying that Israel did not gain all those V5 victories you are claiming for them.
But even so,I am afraid they may have lost more than they gained.
Where you seem to analyse the israeli escapade as some kind of masterplan, some observers would ascribe it to the inexperience of the present israeli prime minister.

Please do your research, because if you did, you would agree with me that no country or entity has ever gone to any war and had a 100% victory or "gains" thereafter. The Herbollah vs Isreal war isn't any different.

I still insist that the Isrealis, inspite of their other shortcomings did make LONG TERM gains and inflicted long term DAMAGES on its opponent.

The fact that Herbollah is presently surrounded by U.N. and Lebanese troops all around it makes them a more or less disarmed guerrilla movement. Of what use is a guerrilla movement without arms or ability to fire one?

It might also interest you to know that apart from losing its right to fire catucha rockets into Isreal at will (that was what I meant by Herbollah's activities being legally restricted to Lebanese territory,) on the economic front, it would take the Lebanese government and people in the worlds of its Prime Minister "years," if not centuries, to get out of the economic and psychological trauma that the short-lived war visited on its population.

So Herbollah handing out a million green back to each returning refugee world not take away the physical trauma which this war has brought upon the Lebanese population.
THAT IS A LONG TERM LOSE FOR BOTH HERZBOLLAH AND THE LEBANESE PEOPLE, WHICH NO ONE ELSE WOULD FEEL OR SHARE WITH THEM WHEN THE CAMERAS TURN OFF.
