What gives this local chief the right to be claiming that he has the [i[ofo[/i] and that his seat is the oldest in Igboland? As far as I can tell, he is just another politically appointed chief for his town and that about it.

Adamu tasks Nigerians on unity

ODOGWU EMEKA ODOGWU, Awka

Governor of Nassarawa State, Alhaji (Dr) Abdullahi Adamu has challenged Nigerians to do only those things that will help unite Nigeria together as the greatest achievement of any politician is his or her contributions to the nation building.

Speaking briefly after receiving an honour of Odenigbo of Igboland conferred on him by the His Royal Majesty, Igwe Osita Agwuna 111 of Enugwu-ukwu, Governor Adamu restated that it is high time every Nigeria should see his abode as his or her home as Nigerians are one.

He reiterated the need for one love to unite all Nigerians, as there is nothing like tribalism when one is a true and patriotic Nigerian, pointing out that the era of selfishness and parochialism are over for selflessness and love for the country.

The Nassarawa state governor advised Nigerians to be proud of their country by being patriotic and showing interest in the affairs of their people.

He thanked Igwe Osita Agwuna and the people of Enugwu-Ukwu for the worthiness they find in him for giving him that title which he would uphold all the demands as a Nigerian.

Adamu pointed out that people should discourage the issue of indigenes and non-indigenes as it has caused a lot of problem to the country, which should not be allowed to go unchecked.

Performing the ceremony, Igwe Agwuna informed that Gov Adamu was chosen for his patriotism and contributions to nation building without discrimination.

Igwe Agwuna appealed to all Nigerians especially the political class to show love and selflessness to the country by downplaying selfishness, favoritism and tribalism in order to move the nation forward.

He noted that the title on Adamu was not politically motivated but on merit for his meritorious service in office for the people of Nassarawa and Nigerians at large saying his way of politics should be emulated.

Over 3,000 people from Nassarawa state were present in Enugwu-Ukwu in solidarity to the governor including the members of the executive council, traditional institution ,students , non indigenes and well wishers. The function was a carnival of sorts.

Governor of Nassarawa State, Alhaji (Dr) Abdullahi Adamu is the new Odenigbo of Igboland conferred on him by the His Royal Majesty, Igwe Osita Agwuna 111 of Enugwu-ukwu,
