Folks, What is your take on this white elephant project for the rich in Imo state? Presently 75% of nigerian's can't afford a meal a day. In Imo state, the priority should be the basic needs for this first four years of Ohakim's admin. Fix our elementry schools, build more roads and rehabilitate the existing roads. Our local hospitals should be fully equipt. Provide nutruition for our children in schools, care for pregnant mothers, and elders. With the kind of money that accure to Imo state from the fed. the above can easily be implemented. Attention should also be paid to secondry schools. Imo state University should also be fully funded to meet international standard. This N60b can be used to uplift Imo state. Attention should be paid to the agricultural section. Adapalm, Avutu poultry, and other small scale industries already in existence should be revampt. This white elephant project is not what Ndi-Imo need now. Call your state rep. to reject this un-necessary venture. No dought this tourist project in Oguta lake is good, but could wait only after the govenor has taken care of the above which need immediate attention. Not after Achike Udenwa left Imo state in ruins that we need another period of poor planning or mis placed priority.

Ohakim, who disclosed this recently during his maiden visit to the state House of Assembly, said steps were already being taken to raise N30 billion bond from the capital market to partly finance the construction of the project.
When completed, the governor said the projects will create jobs for the people and also improve the state economy tremendously.
He said the centre will have world class facilities like an international golf course, a five-star hotel, leisure parks, standard football pitch, shopping complexes, casinos and cinemas.
According to him, the tourism centre is expected to generate more than 1,500 jobs while a project director had been appointed to work hand-in-hand with foreign consultants already engaged by government.
He said that plans were also afoot to develop the Abadaba Lake, Okigwe rolling hills, Monkey Colony at Lagwa, Okwuata and Nworie River.
Ohakim solicited the support and co-operation of the state lawmakers for the project, adding that the issue of security of would-be investors and tourists was already being addressed by the setting up of a security committee headed by Col. Herbert Eze (rtd).

My God when will the Imo State government learn to be a government for the people, they're trying to be like other wastful governments in the country. Rather than seek and sort out people's problems such as this author mentioned, they like Gowon with his FESTAC, are wasting precious fund on projects that will never benefit the common man in the village. Whosoever that came up with this project should be ashame, if not shot for forgeting the people in the village

I agree wuith your guys to some extent, the school should be a priority or supercedes every other projects in the state. But if the Wonderland Lake Resort produces a job for the common man, go for it. Afterall, it is about creating a job and attracting inter-state goods in the state. And if the money is not diverted for personal gain, once again , "DO IT".
