Arrested by the Ibrahim babangida's administration in an alleged attempt to overthrow the government on his literary works, he spent eighteen months in prison between 1985 and 1987.

In and out of prison on government trumped-up charges, he maintained his opposition to Babangida's corrupt and tyranical regime writing extensively and performing theatrical monologues. His plays of "sedition" landed him back in prison.

Meanwhile, after his release, he graduated from Imo State University. With further threats to his life he flee to England to do the best out of a bad situation. While in England living a very quiet life, he published his personal memoir in 1997 which also had the brutal regime of Sani Abacha demand for his extradition from the British government.

In 1999, his next door neigbor was murdered in the most brutal of circumstances leaving him with the option to run for his life.

Now a doctorate student in literature at University of Southern California, Los Angeles, his newest work, a book of poems, Daphne's Lot just arrived the book shelves and was launched last month at Midnight Special in Santa Monica, California.

Among his other works: Kalakuta Republic, Masters of the Road, and Graceland--A Novel.
