PRESS STATEMENT


EXPULSION OF GOVERNOR NGIGE FROM THE PDP



The attention of His Excellency, Dr. Chris Nwabueze Ngige (OON), Governor, Anambra State, has been drawn to certain decisions taken today March 10, 2005, in Abuja by some members of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), National Executive Committee expelling him from the Party.



The Governor wishes to state that going by the Provisions of the PDP Constitution particularly Article 16 (C) (v) he remains a bona-fide member of the Party.



The steps taken by those who participated in the so-called expulsion are unconstitutional within the context of the PDP Constitution and the Governor intends to challenge them in the Court.



The people of Anambra State and indeed all Nigerians are hereby alerted of a fresh plan, as part of this expulsion script, to send in mobile policemen to again provide cover for Chief Chris Uba and his cohorts so that they would embark on another round of burning of Government property and if possible this time harm the Governor.



The attention of all Nigerians and indeed World Leaders is called to this undemocratic and jungle justice in a federating unit of Nigeria.



The Governor hereby appeals to the people of the State to remain calm but vigilant and refrain from being used to derail the infrastructural development revolution currently being witnessed in the State.



The Governor remains resolute in his quest to transform the State and bequeath to the people good governance deeply rooted in accountability, transparency and respect for the rule of law.
