All:

I woke up this morning to find that my inbox has been flooded by Okenwa Nwosu's email from his "osondu" web page which announced his endorsement of ugorji of the Umar Ardo fame as WIC chairman. I am NOT surprised.

Google Okenwa Nwosu, MD and see what you find!

Response from Dr. Okenwa Nwosu:
quote:
Umuibe,

Let me first acknowledge heartfelt comments from Ken, Ejike, Azubuike, Ezenwanmadu and others about a "revelation" on a lingering issue that I have with Maryland Board of Physicians. Ken has given a legal insight into administrative actions that affect regulated professions of which medical practice is one. Since this matter has been injected into this medium, I am obligated to make just a few remarks for the records.

I was licensed to practice medicine in the District of Columbia in 1976 and in State of Maryland in 1981. Since more than 30 years of practicing medicine in the US and Nigeria, I have not been sued for any malpractice or sanctioned by any professional body in these two countries till now. What is possibly intended to be a bombshell revelation on my professional career is actually not a secret at all. The information that was referenced about my issue with Maryland Board of Physicians has been available on the web since November last year. All one needed to do was to type in "Okenwa Nwosu" in Google search engine. We live in information age and no one of substance should ever assume that any information about him cannot become a public commodity sooner or later.

I had the option of posting specific rebuttal information through Google several months ago to deal with this exaggerated publication about me but I was counseled by legal experts not to do so for now. For those who appear to have special interest in my fate, rest assured that the deal is not done till the fat lady sings. This whole saga originated from a professional disagreement with an Iranian colleague who I had consulted to evaluate one of my preoperative patients in a Washington DC suburban hospital in May 2000. This Iranian gynecologist took offense of the fact that he felt left out of my patient's surgery and subsequent care despite his earlier consultation. Patient's problem was properly managed and she was discharged. This matter was resolved in that hospital when the legal consul I had at the time secured a written undertaking to end the dispute amicably. I opted to resign from membership of that hospital Medical Staff in order to distance myself from undesirable acrimony at this stage of my career. In retrospect, there was still a loophole which my adversary exploited by pressing his vendetta through the State Board years after the matter was supposedly resolved. The new Republican Governor of Maryland reconstituted a new Board which had a substantial Middle East influence in its composition and it was clear that my adversary was hell bent to use his new leverage to settle an old score that must have been very important wound in his ego.

The new legal team that is handling this case now has advised me against specific commentary on this matter since plans are in the works for seeking redress on my behalf when time is right. Anyone who is really curious to know further about this development should contact the law firm of ECU Associates, Washington DC (phone # 202 237-8970) for appropriate briefing. Furthermore, anyone who wishes to ascertain my professional competence and moral character should speak to hundreds of colleagues with whom I have worked closely in the US and Nigeria for the past three decades. Inquisitive minds could also obtain direct testimonies of thousands of patients who have been under my care over the years. This is really what matters to me, not the labeling of someone who may be unable to identify me in a small crowd. I have grown up with a firm conviction that I can never allow either known enemies or strangers to define who I am. That is only the prerogative of those who know me well through close interaction over the years.

A lot has happened and is still happening to many Igbo professionals in this system. Our plight is aided by the fact that we don't have credible "mafia" setups with which to counter the machinations of our competitors from other parts of the world. They collude and scheme their way into key institutions and corridors of power in ways that most of us cannot fathom as we speak. Here is an example. One Igbo medical doctor from Anambra state and a friend of mine for decades, worked so hard for years to setup a Health Maintenance Organization (HMO) that is based out of Washington DC metropolis. His corporation secured lucrative state contracts and has employed scores of staff before a thunderbolt of lightening struck out of the blue. Some hostile clique decided that his spectacular success must be curtailed and so they went to work to mow him down. At a stage, the Maryland State insurance licensing commission froze his company's corporate bank account with more that $8 million cash in it and proceeded to completely dispossess him of his lifetime effort. Suffice it to say that another HMO, named Amerigroup, was subsequently formed to inherit the sweat and tears of another who was stripped bare and left wrecked and hanging empty-handed.

Until we start taking ourselves seriously and start organizing properly as a community, no one is safe in a sea that is infested with sharks.
As Chairman of Osondu Editorial Committee, views expressed in Osondu Editorial are usually written or edited under my supervision in consonance with aims and objectives of Osondu Foundation, Inc. Any commentary regarding elections of any type is bound to be controversial because there are competing interests at play always. Demonizing anyone or group for having an opinion is not the Igbo way of life. Individuals with contrasting views should feel free to air them without straying to impugn their perceived opponents' integrity. That is what civility is all about.

Okenwa.

Without prejudice to the merit of the sanctions imposed on Dr. Okenwa Nwosu by the Maryland Board of Physicians, I am shocked to read Dr. Nwosu calling for a "Mafia" (he actually used that word) and for Igbo people to organize outside of the mainstream. Is this not the same Dr. Nwosu who used his pen to wage war against Igbo people and Biafrans who organized against the injustice called Nigeria? No Igbo person has done more harm to the Biafra Movement than Dr. Nwosu. Whether it is Dr. Nwosu's "Biafra on my Mind" or any of his many ill-conceived attacks against the Biafra movement, Dr. Nwosu has been a proponent of the status quo. He will have to do more explaining if he expects us to understand his call for the establishment of groups that champion Igbo interests in defiance of the powers that be.

As much I would like to sympathize with Dr Okenwa Nwosu in what he is going through. As a profeesional myself who have spend the last 13 years of my professional career in healthcare accounting and finance field. I know that there are merits to some of the point Dr Nwosu is making regarding his case and the clique mentality that goes on in Healthcare field. Though I am not a doctor, but as a professional who worked in the strategic financial area of Healthcare, I know that it is impossible for a doctor in private practe to be successful without attaching himself with big medical group or be a part of big IPA.

Having said all that above, for the life of me I don't know what doctor Okenwa Nwosu is smoking. Doctor Okenwa Nwosu have made a name here on internet by going against everything Biafra and Igbo nation. What doctor Okenwa Nwosu is doing here is O.J. simpson syndrome. O.J lived in white American world, mingled with friends in that world, But when he got in trouble he remembered that he was a black man, he ran home to black people to save him. Dr Okenwa Nwosu have preached one Nigeria from the Tower of babel for a long time. Now he seem to be singing a different tune.

To make matter worst Dr Okenwa Nwosu through his Osondu Foundation have endorsed the Candidacy of Dr Ugorji Ugorji, as Chairman of WIC, the same corrupt Dr Ugorji Ugorji who distroyed AFOMA Mbaise is now a messia in the eyes of Dr Nwosu, Ugorji will now cure WIC. The same Doctor Ugorji who went home to award $180 scholarship for AFOMA only to come back to submit expense report of $6,000.00 to AFOMA Mbaise. The same Ugorji who invited every press member in Southeast to come to Owerri to cover the $180 scholarship award. The same Ugorji who ask Mbaise kids to spend their hard earned Naira to come to Owerri for measily N1000, when Aboh Mbaise our headquarters would have been the ideal place for such. The same Ugorji who planted his cronies in every position in AFOMA Mbaise, which allowed him and his cronies to wipe the purse of AFOMA dry. The same Ugorji with his cronies saw the funds of AFOMA went from $40,000 to $9,000 in less than two years. The Same Ugorji who appointed a member of Executive to audit the same Executive. The same Ugorji who was expelled from Delaware valley Mbaise Association, only to surface with a competing Mbaise Organization in order to keep his membership from AFOMA and WIC. The same Ugorji who went and dine with Udenwa claiming the Mbaise people in North America sent him, when he was confront for proof he waffled.

As a true son of the soil from Mbaise it pains me to come out here to castigate another Mbaise son. However my morals will not allow me to keep quiet regarding this issue. As much as it pains me to oppose the candidacy of Ugorji as WIC chairman, even though Ugorji will not think twice to stump on any Mbaise son or Igbo son for that matter in order to please his Awusa god fathers. The same Ugorji who engaged in a hachet job for Udenwa in order to ruin the Gubernatorial aspiration of his own brother, Bar. Mike Ahamba SAN.

Dr Okenwa Nwosu endorsement of Ugorji have given political Godfatherism a new name. This endorsement have made Chris Ubah the mother Theresa of Political Godfatherism. Umu-Igbo all I can tell you is this, if Dr Ugorji becomes the Chairman of world Igbo Congress please watch your wallet. Put a bullet proof lock on it if you have to, because by the time Dr Ugorji and his group are through with you, your wallet will be dry like Otamiri river in Owerri have dried up.

Okenwa's response is typical of what we have come to expect from our "mainstream and politically sagacious" Igbo. They rise to prominence with a quasi conservative message that fails to recognise the effort and travails of their fellow Igbo only to turn round and cry marginalisation when their personal interest is affected.

I am shocked to see Okenwa use such words as "Iranian colleague" and "Board with Mid Eastern influence".

Tell me something? Awusa and Yoroba marginalise you in BiafraNigeria and Iran marginalise you in America? Whither the much harped about political sagacity? By resorting to this language of victimhood Okenwa is a huge let down to the alumni of the Historically Black Howard Uni, the widely acclaimed hot-bed of resistance to injustice.

I think it might be pertinent to identify or seperate two (2) issues here that have little to do with each other.
1. the issue of Dr.Okenwa Nwosu as a Proffesional in the Medical Field
2. the issue of Dr.Nwosu`s politics and political opinions.
These two issues are not identical!
My penny`s worth.

Brother Ochiwar

Okenwa Nwosu have always mixed two of them so don't expect us to seperate it for him. Those who live in glass house should not throw stones. Dr Okenwa Nwosu have made name juggling two of them and that is why people a jumping into it with two legs.

Brother Biafra,

Assuming Nwosu has been doing so and it is wrong, then two wrongs still dont make it right.
No offence meant to anybody here, but I just think it is usefull in this type of case to seperate a persons medical career from his political one in order to mentain objectivity.

His political and his medical carrers may ofcourse be related and linked, but I doubt that the two are freely interchangeable with each other for the purpose of discussion.

For example, based on his sanctions by the Maryland Board of Physicians, it might be correct to conclude that Nwosu is a bad Medical Doctor ( I am not saying he is).
However it would not be nearly as correct to conclude that due to his sanction by Maryland Board of Physicians, he is a bad leader or politician.

Note I am not saying Nwosu is a good leader or otherwise. My point is simply that it is difficult to draw conclusions from his medical carrer and apply them unreservedly to his political carrer and vice versa.

Ochiwar

You cannot differentiate or seperate these two issues in the 11th hour. Dr Nwosu as much as I sympathize with him on what he is facing as a medical doctor with Maryland Board of Phycicians. The point to be made here is that the same doctor Nwosu have made a name rediculing those who have been fighting for Biafra and Igbo nation. Dr Okenwa Nwosu can't have it both ways, He has been unapologetic seen nothing wrong with one Nigeria, Dr Nwosu doesn't think that Igbos should fight for their future devoid of one Nigeria. Dr Nwosu believe that Igbo should continue to be part of one Nigeria.

Then tell me yourself Mr Ochiwar, how can doctor Nwosu turn around to complain about been marginalized by Iranians who are immigrants the same way he is. When Doctor Okenwa Nwosu can't not also see the same Marginalization been perpetrated by Awusa and Yoruba on other Igbos in his beloved Nigeria. It is ironic that Dr Nwosu is talking about Heavy slented Iranians on the Maryland medical Board, yet Doctor Okenwa Nwosu redicules MASSOB even when they called for Igbos to stay home day. I tell you, why you cannot seperate the two, The two issues are inter-related. organizing is politics whether you are organizing for Labor union or forming a partnership or big conglomorate. I tell you why Irans are Heavy in that Board, is because they are organized and United. Do you know how many Igbo Doctors in United States of America Mr Ochiwar?. I have spend the Better of last 13 years of my career in Health care field. 10 years ago I worked for a Major Hospital here in Los Angeles area, at that time there were 10 Igbo doctors in that Hospital alone. Look Mr Ochiwar if you want to defend Doctor Nwosu do it is your perogative, but on this issue you raised, your dog is not hunting. Why do you think Big healthcare companies Like Tenet healthcare company and HCA continue to gobble hospitals like there is no tomorrow, that is politics brother. Why do you think Companies like Healthsouth are in Business? Why do you think many doctors are opting for big Doctors group, is all about leverage to be able to have power over insurance companies and political influence over policy makers. Medicare and Mediaid are all Government programs controlled by Politicians so tell where politics doesn't affect that. The Republican Governor in Maryland probably received good campaign contribution from the Iranian doctors group, then he rewarded them by appointing them in that Board, Brother that is politics. If Igbo Doctors in America can organize themselves they will have power similar to that Irans doctor have that Nwosu is complaining about. Then how can they organize if people like Dr Nwosu will be busy working for one Nigeria, would the Igbo doctors trust him? So Ochiwar raise another point this one you are making is a dead horse.

Words of WISDOM!!
Fact of the matter is that LITTLE MINDS like the starter of this thread whose stock-in-trade is to "dig" into people's privat lives and hid behind handles to play the holy mose cannot compete with Dr. Okenwa Nwosu in REAL life, hence their resort to malicious attacks on the person of Dr. Nwosu.
Anyone who is in doubt should review the threads and visit the thread titled "Okenwa Nwosu attack Biafra" and see why they go after the gentleman. So in essence, anyone who critizes the CYBER TERRORIST like the Hofias on the METHOD (not necessarily the destination) of recuing Ndigbo from what we all agree is pit ends up being called all sort of name; it is from that angle that this thread and the starter of it should be seen.
For even if Dr. Nwosu is a convicted thief, that does not deny him the right to make his political views or alliance(s) known. It is left for members of World Igbo Congress to choose at the end of the day whom the think should lead Nd'Igbo.
That aprt, fact of the matter is that some of the BIASED contributors to this are not card-carrying members of WIC and have in some instances called for its scrabbing (review the threads on this board and see what what I am talking about), so why do they now care who endorses whom or who leads Nd'Igbo via the same organization they never saw anything good in from the start? Your guess is as good as mine.

Finally, let those who have jettisoned their Igbo identity and become 'Biafrans' concentrate on their "Biafra actualization" and leave those of us who think the economic and political mess we Igbos are can be resolved from and within Nigeria and Nd'Igbo being part of Nigeria leave us alone to decide who leads us in Igbconstic organizations like WIC, Ohaneze, etc.

Bottomline: let proud Igbos (like the Nwa Aros) who belong in organizations that project us as nothing but Igbos peak for us, while those who say they are "proud" Biafrans speak for those they claim to represent; Because NDIGBO ARE NOT BIAFRANS OR IS THERE ANY RACE ON EARTH KNOWN AS THE LATTER.

Dear bro. Biafra,
With every due respect, Nwa Aro of old is STILL THE PROUD IGBO AND DEFENDER OF IT THAT I WAS AND STILL AND WILL REMAIN. So I did not "convert" to anything.
What those of who believe in GREATER IGBO NATION within Nigeria are simply saying is that those of you who believe in balkanizing Nigeria whould do is to sell your MESSAGE and leave attacking the PERSON(s) of those like us who do not agree intoto with that agenda. That way we all will be making not only ourselves as individuals proud, but by extension the Igbo race will be seen as a TOLERANT people by both our foes and friends alike. It is when some intolerant ones in your camp like the Ohafias cross that line that I often go after your Biafran "project".

Put simply, let the game be: LIVE AND LETS LIVE. Hope you wouldn't argure with that truism?

You deceive yourself if you think talking up a Akwa Ibom/Cross River handle will hide the fact that you are an IGBO. In any case, this is nnot a Biafra-only forum, so I would in like manner also return your "advice" to you by directing you to go join your fellow Biafrans at the Biafra-only forum called 'Biafraland' and other like it.

Come to thinlk of it, reading from your take above, it seems you have been having a great time seeing Igbos who claim to be so-called Biafrans tear and pull down one of their own for what can best be described as SELFISH REASONS.
It is to forstall such UNIGBO behaviour that I have made it a duty to stop the likes of Ohafia untill they drag every Igbo down in their quest for a MIRAGE.

For the records, NWA ARO WAS AND IS A PROUD IGBOMAN AND WILL DEFEND ITS VALUES ANYWHERE, ANYTIME AND BY ALL MEANS. For your information, that is what I did when your countryman (if I should give you the grace to believe that you are non Igbo) Clement Ikpatt when he and his fellow self-styled "one Nigeria" gang of equally INTERNET TERRORISTS descended on the Igbo race and its values. So I wouldn't stop doing now and in the future just because some riff-raffs here bear Igbo names and handles.

BOTTOMLINE: whether you are an Igbo or not, the message is simply; DO NOT USE THE IGBO PEOPLE OR PULL DOWN ONE OF OUR OWN FOR SELFISH REASONS! CRITIZE THE PERSON'S MESSAGE BUT DONT GO AFTER HIS PERSON.

All,
Coming to the allegation made by some here that Dr. Nwosu has been everything but disaster for Igbo cause and is in support of a corrupt and disfunctional WIC, here is what one of your fellow 'Biafrans' by name Ambrose wrote in his article titled "Igbo Diaspora, Leadership, and the Igbo Tragedy (2): WIC's Conventions of the Deaf and Dumb" dated 25th August 2005:

Writing about Dr. Nwosu and his stand on the Kalu Diogu-led WIC and the obvious ills affecting the organization here is what Dr. Nwosu was quoted to have commented:

Quote:
-----------------------
“If WIC is not democratic, then why should we have dictators in Nigeria as well as in Diaspora?” Okenwa asked. “Nobody expects WIC to have the means of a government. What we need in WIC is one person one voice, transparency, accountability, and all that is not being practiced in Nigeria. WIC should expose every problem, asking Nd’Igbo in Diaspora to suggest solution.”--Ambrose.
---------------------------

So how can same man be accused of meaning ill for same WIC simply because he advocated for change by endorsing a candidate? Fact of matter is that WIC like most pro-Igbo organizations are in one administrative problem or the other but that does not mean that the should be scabbed.

Finally, let those who truly have something positive to contribute to better WIC do ND'Igbo good by going to its convention which will take place from 1-4 September in California to do so and stop deserpating energy and running their fellow Igbos down on the Net.
I hope that is not also much to ask of those who claim to mean well more than everyone and God for the Igbo race. LET THE ACTIONS SPEAK MORE THAN THE WORDS.

On this note I take leave.

those of who believe in GREATER IGBO NATION within Nigeria --Nwa Aro

Brother Nwa Aro,
please realise that there can be nothing like Igbo nation in what we call Nigeria. If indeed you are for a greater Igbo nation, then Nigeria cannot come into it.
nigeria has nothing to offer the igbo but sorrow, tears and blood.
Remember that Nigeria was created by oyibo for the sole purpose of looting the African ethnic groups.
Remember that the Igbo are not voluntarily part of Nigeria, having declared their independence in 1967, but are now part of Nigeria by force of arms having been conquered by the awusa infidels under the guidance and support of the agents of babylon , their western allies.
Where do you see the future there for Igbo in Nigeria, given this history and the reality of the Igbo situation right now in present day Nigeria? Do you not see the marginalisation and suffering of the Igbo?
I really dont understand your opinion and would be glad if you could shed more light. Rest assured that I respect your opinion, only that I would like to understand it better and see the rationale behind it, if any.

I really dont understand your opinion and would be glad if you could shed more light. Rest assured that I respect your opinion, only that I would like to understand it better and see the rationale behind it, if any.

After all the anti-Biafran positions he has taken on Igbo/Biafran independence, even as Biafrans face aggresive descrimination in nigeria, Dr. Okenwa Nwosu has no moral authority to complain about discrimination just because he's now the victim.
Furthermore, it is bad judgement and shows weak moral character for Okenwa Nwosu to attempt to recommend Dr. Ugorji Ugorji, a double-dealing, conservative one-nigerian, to head an Igbo/Biafran organization under false pretences. He might as well be recommending Emmanuel Iwuanyanwu, Ojo Maduekwe or Ukpabi Asika, all the flawed, semi-conservative characters of the one-nigeria hue, to run the affairs of Igbo.

What can Ugorji Ugorji do for Igbo/Biafra as chairman of WIC other than fortify his one-nigeria position and use it as a bargaining chip with the hausa/yoroba enemy and Igbo turmentors, as they continue to play the discredited game of one nigeria and as he tries to negotiate for his own personal gains while ignoring the plight of Biafran citizens and Igbo territory.

Ugorji Ugorji and Okenwa Nwosu are one-nigerians and too dangerous for the interest of the Igbo/Biafran nation. Watch Out!!

Nwa Aro to Enobong Umoren:
quote:
You deceive yourself if you think talking up a Akwa Ibom/Cross River handle will hide the fact that you are an IGBO. In any case, this is nnot a Biafra-only forum, so I would in like manner also return your "advice" to you by directing you to go join your fellow Biafrans at the Biafra-only forum called 'Biafraland' and other like it.
Nwa Aro:

Each time you write these days, you further confirm the assessment that you are the pariah of BNW. You joined Nigeriaworld long after many of us were kicked out from there. If you had not been so late in arriving there you would have known that Enobong Umoren's mother is Igbo and his father is from Cross River/Akwa Ibom. I forget exactly if it is Cross River or Akwa Ibom. Both Enobong's mother and his father are well known in Nigeria. Unlike you, who uses the fake name "Nwa Aro," Enobong is using his real name.

But, if you already know about Enobong's Igbo link and that is what riles you to hate him, then, you should be ashamed of yourself. Please, quit acting like a confused and disoriented creep. BNW is big enough for all to express their views.

TIME FOR SANITIZATION IN WIC HAS COME:

The coming WIC elections in California calls for sanitization in moral decadence, and must usher in the long awaited integrity and accountability in World Igbo Congress. It has become pertinent for this Forum to be fully aware that the current Secretary General of World Igbo Congress Mr. Augustine Uzodike is a misfit for that position. He lacks those moral and professional etiquettes to hold that position. Please see attached publication, which speaks for itself. Everyone in this forum is free to carry out investigations from the Board of Attorney Discipline, New Jersey to ascertain his current status. In addition to the offences he committed that led to his disbarment, Mr. Uzodike did not publish the account of the World Igbo Congress where over $150,000 was realized as proceeds. Over 15000 registered conventionalist were present and they paid at least $150 per guest to participate in the World Igbo Congress celebrations.

This issue was not raised By 2003 WIC’s elections in Nashville because Mr. Uzodike was given a final opportunity to appear before the NJ Board of Attorney Discipline to refund all the defrauded monies by him and also to show cause why his license should not be revoked but he failed to do so, hence his license has been finally revoked.

Of all that will be most interesting to this forum to learn is Mr. Uzodike’s successor in leadership as the current president of Igbo USA New Jersey - Mr. Kenneth Chinedu Igwe - who promised not to audit Mr. Uzodike’s administration. Mr. Kenneth C. Igwe has no doctoral degree but he has been parading himself in the Diaspora that he has a Ph.D. Mr. Ken Igwe has also declared as a candidate for the office of the WIC’s Provost, a position formerly held by Mr. Chidi Hans Ibeh whom Mr. Ken Igwe just usurped his position in the WIC’s Board membership from New Jersey. Now he wants to take over Mr. Hans Ibeh’s position in WIC as the Provost with fake doctorate degree. Mr. Ken Igwe must be asked by this Forum and also the WIC’s electoral Commission to show the University from where he obtained his doctorate degree. Mr. Ken Igwe was removed from office from St. Barnabas Healthcare Center, New Jersey, when they discovered he was a fake doctorate degree holder. Mr. Ken Igwe was also stopped from contesting elections in New Jersey as President of Abia/Imo States Association (AISANA) in 1994 until he removed the attachment of PH.D from his qualification when it was discovered that he was fraud. Mr. Ken Igwe was bulldozed by Mr. Uzodike to take over from him to avoid being audited. After discoveries by this Forum and the WIC’s Electoral Commission, Mr. Kenneth C. Igwe should also be admonished to stop parading himself as a doctorate degree holder within the Igbo Community. Messrs Austin Uzodike and Ken Igwe are both partners in crime and bogus professional educations and standards.

This California 2005 WIC’s election calls for sanitization. We want men of integrity, accountability and transparency to take over this administration so that the Igbo’s can move forward. Please find attached/hereunder a publication from the East Orange Record for your perusal.

Âfter all the mouthing by the FRINGE ELEMENTS,the so-called Biafrans, the REAL Igbos, I mean those who have something to show for their stay in the U.S. and the creme-de-la-creme of the Igbo nation have descended on Los Angeles to showcase the true colour of the IGBO NATION.

Amazingly, unlike what the CYBER TERRORISTS (no apology) want the world to believe, fact is that its not only Dr. Nwosu who has endorsed the candidature of Chief Ugorji. His support base crosses the borders of the United States:

Igbo leaders in U.S. for convention

ACHILLEUS UCHEGBU (Deputy News Editor)

BARRING any last minute change, the 2005 edition of World Igbo Congress (WIC) convention will begin today in the United States of America (USA)

The convention which is expected to elect a new executive for the congress holds at the prestigious Hilton Los Angeles Airport Hotel in California.

With the theme: "Oganihu Site na Njikota," (success through collaboration), the convention will last till Sunday, September 4, 2005.

Expected at the event which will feature seminar papers and discussions are delegates from all branches of World Igbo Congress in the USA and Nigeria.

Already, out-going chairman of the congress, Dr. Kalu Kalu Diogu, has promised a wonderful outing, noting that with the assistance of Chief Kennedy Obi, who is president of ICA in Los Angeles, Chief C. Y. Nwagwu (public relations officer WIC), Ugo Uzodike (secretary general of WIC), Chief Chuka Obiezie (convention chairman) and Mrs. Patience Oruh, everything has been put in place for a successful convention.

Meanwhile, a contestant for chairmanship of the congress, Chief Ugorji O. Ugorji, has said he is best suited for the office having received endorsement from the Igbo in Canada, London, Australia, China, Netherlands and Nigeria.

Chief Ugorji who is a well read publisher, has led several organisations including chairmanship of the curriculum committee of Trenton Board of Education and its superintendent search committee.

An executive director of African Writers Endowment, Chief Ugorji has been a board member of the WIC as well as chairman of its education and youth development committee.
