It's double tragedy for Nigerians.

Just after a couple of hours after an Abuja-bound Bellview flight went down with 114 passegers on board, reports from Spain has also confirmed that Nigeria's First Lady, Mrs. Stella Obasanjo is dead.

She died early this morning, Sunday, October 23, from conplications resulting from a surgery operation.

May the soul of the victims of the plane tragedy and that of the First Lady rest in peace!

Mrs Obasanjo was a controversial figure who had ordered the arrest of a newspaper publisher earlier this year.

God's judgement, NO APPEAL!
Hopefully the next "first lady" to be upgraded from Aremu's many wives will be less greedy. Hopefully the sister of the next "first lady" will not be married to one of the Ubahs of Anambara god father fame.

Hopefully the realisation of our common mortality will help check the excesses of the morons who treat the rights and lives of Biafranigerians with disdain.

My sympathy to Stella's Kids who have lost their mum.

The human angle to this story is that a patient who happens to be wife, mother and sister to someone has died from complications of surgery.
The political angle is that she died in Spain. She refused to put her life in the hands of the failing medical system which her husband presides over. Inevitably, people will want to know why the Obasanjos and Alamieyeseighas use public funds the way they do.

The last time I read that Obasanjo left Nigeria for medical check-up, he went to Germany, according to the news. One would have expected him to go to U.S. as he needs to report to his master very often anyway.

Strange enough Obasanjo's wife did neither go to US nor to Germany. It would be difficult to convince us that the choice was driven by the cost of the operation, since they have the country's resources at their disposal. Or do some African leaders also think what we are thinking: that Oyibo is not very trustworthy.

It is better to improve the standards of hospitals in Nigeria/Africa, which would enable the leaders to disagree with the imperialists without risking their lives or that of their siblings during an operation.

We all witnessed how Bush announced the death of Arafat before any news from Paris where he was operated. A word is enough for the wise.

My condolences to Stella's families

My condolences go to the families of the victims. I hope each person had time to make peace with God, for death is merely a door. What lies beyond that door for each of us is a mystery only known to the person who passes it. I hope also the leaders in Nigeria will reflect upon their own mortality as well, and amend their ways for the good of every single Nigerian, not shutting up their ears at the cries of the poor and down-trodden. Otherwise they will surely answer to God.

What Killed Stella Obasanjo?: the Inquest

Ladies and Gentlemen:

We have all read about the death of Stella Obasanjo, who was said to have undergone surgery in Spain. What we are not getting from the news reports is the actual cause of death. Did Stella have cancer? Did she have AIDS? What was her surgery for?

As a rule, Stella died as she lived, she was a profolic mother of greed,a bad model and a folly of deceit. Her sins were double pleasure on public money and excrutiating for Nigerians.

This is why Stella will not be accepted in Heaven because Heaven does not want her and Hell does not want her either because she is too greedy and hell fears she might dorminate them. I am hoping that Ogun have mercy on her for a change.. Good Bye Stella Obasanjo.

The Independent reports:
quote:
The Molding Clinic of cosmetic surgery in Marbella, Spain confirmed that pathologists there performed an autopsy on Stella’s body who died following surgery. The Spanish Foreign Ministry also confirmed it.
Guardian Unlimited gives you a good idea what they do in this clinic: 2002 report.
Bottom line

Thanks CSE:

It is a shame that sixty-year old grandma Stella died while getting a boob job. I don't understand. I blame Olisiego Obusonjo for this. He must have put too much pressure on the woman to look better than Atiku's wife, Jemila. An African grandma should not die of complications from plastic surgery.

She must have gone to spain inorder to insist on an operation she had been adviced against in Germany and US.
She no sick b/4! nothing do am. Just vanity.

Abi the doctors for Spain no gree tell am the truth say no matter de kind operation were she do say she no fit ever fine at all at all?

I actually have it on good authority that Obasa-nnjo actually intended to have some plastic surgery himself, but the doctors in spain said that they are not qualified to handle his case. They refered him to a cosmetic vetrinary surgeon

-------------------------

For once I agree 100% with my good friend Greg. But to go further, I would also add that this should not be a time for reciminations or political blame-throwing. For whether we loved or hated Mrs. Obasanjo while she was alive, fact is that she is the wife (or one of the wives) of a Nigerian Head of State. Beyond that is the fact that she is a HUMAN BEING who deserves to be mourned, and given the respect deserving of every being at death, irrespective of the cause of death or ones philosophical or political leaning while alive. Even we Igbos have a saying in Igbo language that says that "adighi ese okwu rue na onwu" (meaning that when death comes, enemity disappears).

One more addition, it is not only Nigerian leaders who need this time to "mend their ways." We, the followers also need to use this sad and painful time to ask ourselves hard questions on the way we treat those who see things from a different lense from ours.

All in all, this sad events of yesterday may be the tonic which Nigerians of all political and philosophical leaning have longed for and desperately needs to reflect on the biblical injunction that says: "Vanity plus vanity is all vanity."

Once again, my condolences goes to Mr. Obasanjo and all members of his family.

...just like every other person, I am very curious as to what laid to Stella's death. It is public information that every Nigerian need to know and it should not be classified. Bring on the shame if actually, it is a saggy breast surgery.

Thanks Nwa Aro for the listed names . But the list of the passangers should be published in appropriate thread. This is a wrong thread for it. Copy that.

I dont how to describe my reaction to the news of the death of Stella Obasanjo and the circumstances under which she passed.

Tyring to put it words; Its a mixture of pity and extreme embarrassment, with latter growing in propotion relative to the former with each passing hour.

The early result from Spain states that Stella Obasanjo died from complications of cosmetic surgery to reduce fat from her body. Now, thats a lot to have the whole country talking about the dark side of beauty or another dark history in Nigerian record books. Nigerian government officials die in Alien country and buried in their mother land, speaks volume about laadership.
On memory lane, Abacha died while having sex with a Lebanesse Whore.

The wrong Obasanjo died, Uncle Sege is a user, he used this women and then forced her into early death. Obasanjo abandoned this woman in good time, then all of sudden when Abacha throw his ass into jail, he crawlled back to Stella. Stella and her sister who is Married to Ubas help to save Obasanjo in prison. The Uba who is now special assistent to Obasanjo, used to live here in Los Angeles area and used to own a medical supply company. Through Stella Obasanjo Mr Uba supplied all the Blood pressure and diabetes medication Obasanjo needed while in Jail.

How did Obasanjo pay Stella back for this, once Obasanjo got into Aso rock, all action in bedroom with Stella stopped. Stella have confided this facts to many close friends about this that Obasanjo no longer touch her sexually. To make matter worst Obasanjo have since fathered 2 children since he moved into Aso Rock. Stella in a desperate move to bring some action sexually in her bedroom she had to go the extreme of plastic and boob job.

This woman became desperate because Obasanjo continue to flunt his shananigan with young girls, young enough to be his grang daughters, in Aso rock, not hiding it to Stella. This may have been what drove this woman to boob job and plastic surgery. Stella's family should hold Obasanjo responsible for this woman's death. He drove her to it. Obasanjo use people and dump them, check his histroy, that has always been his armor.

Someone wrote this in 2003.

I do not currently reside in Nigeria, but I am closer to home than you could believe, having established links and news sources. I was taken aback when I received the news that the First Lady underwent plastic surgery to make her mammary glands more 'elegant', and she used the occasion of her birthday bash to unwittingly flaunt her new-look boobs. What a shame. A first lady who will spend a fortune on mundane stuff like physiological 'tune-up' while scores of Nigerians go hungry, and scores of others could not secure decent employment is, to be honest, not fit to be called mama by anybody but those over-pampered praise singers of hers. By the way, don't she and the president always utilize every opportunity to flash their 'born-again' credentials at us? Biblically speaking, to 'makeup', or 'tune-up' your body is an admission to the assumption of the fallibility of God. Vanity upon vanity, the Bible says. So, her bare-it-all attitude would definitely not conform to traditional Christian teachings and ethics. For one, the pastor who rendered the opening prayer at the occasion has sinned terribly by aiding and abetting sin. In other places, the pastor would be the first to chastise her ungodly dressing so she could be brought back onto the track of righteousness. But we all know that religion as practiced today is mainly a get-rich-quick scam.

Nigerian first lady dies after treatment at Spanish cosmetic clinic
Coroners investigating the possibility of medical malpractice performed an autopsy Monday on Nigerian first lady Stella Obasanjo, who died after undergoing treatment at a cosmetic surgery clinic in a Spanish resort town, officials said.

The autopsy lasted two-and-a-half hours and seems to have given clear information on the cause of death, said Antonio Garcia de Galvez, director of the Malaga Institute of Forensic Medicine, where the autopsy was carried out.

Obasanjo, the 59-year-old wife of President Olusegun Obasanjo, died Sunday in the nearby city of Marbella after falling ill while recovering from cosmetic surgery that she underwent last week, Garcia de Galvez told The Associated Press in a telephone interview. He declined to discuss the results of the autopsy, saying the data will be turned over to a judge investigating the case.

He also would not say what kind of cosmetic procedure Obasanjo underwent. In Spain, autopsies can be requested by relatives or doctors. But they are court-ordered when the death is deemed to be of a suspicious nature - as in this case - or to have been caused by violence, Garcia de Galvez said. In Obasanjo's case coroners are investigating the possibility of medical malpractice, he said.

Obasanjo was admitted practically brain-dead early Sunday to a hospital in Marbella after being rushed there from Molding Clinic, where she underwent the cosmetic procedure, Garcia de Galvez said.

Molding Clinic, located in Puerto Banus, a posh district of Marbella in Spain's Costa del Sol resort area, issued a statement Monday saying it has provided judicial authorities with all the information they have requested and that the "fundamental causes" of Obasanjo's death have not been determined.

CSE,

I can't see the link between the teenager in Great Britain and Mama's death. Did Mama pierce any part of her anatomy?
