With the economy of the southeast in such a bad shape, our young men have had to travel miles away just to make a living. This is a link to our young men who should have been playing for the Rangers International, Enyimba FC, Udoji FC, Vasco Da Gama, Sharks, and lots of the clubs in Nigeria but instead, they are all over the world, even in cold (weather and economy) Russia. Nigeria does not recognize or appreciate talent. Infact it sees talented people as a threat to their status quo. The birth of Biafra will once again give rise to the glory of the soccer teams/clubs that we once adored.

It might interest you to learn that a Biafran Emmanuel Olisadebe is the highest goal scorer for the Polish National Football Team in the present world cup qualifier with 5 goals. He scored 2 goals in their 3-1 away win over Ukraine and last 2 weeks, another 2 goals in their 3-2 away win over Norway. It not just the Biafran R&D dept that has been destroyed.Posts: 585 | From: London. | Registered: Mar 2001

But think about it, the North had great footballers, too. How about Celestine Babayaro, Yakubu Mambo of Mighty Jets, Oko Ahmed, Tijani, Osumanu Orlando and the rest? Is Rasheed Yekini also not from the North?

Celestine Babayaro is not from the North, He was an Igbo who took the name of his mentor Alhaji Babayaro who practically raised him. As a matter of fact few months ago it was reported that he is going to change his name back to his original name for the sake of his sibblings. But he still remain stead fastly loyal to the Northern Alhaji who mentored him.
However you are right the North have produce their share of great Nigerian Footballers. Names like
Yabkubu Mambo, Babaotu Mohammed, Shafiu Mohammed, Bala Ali Jeje, Sule kekere of mighty Jets fame, Tajani babangida, and many more.
