Why do they keep calling this guy a Senator? Should we then call the US President Governor Bush? Na wo for naija people o.

Williams Sisters to Tour Nigeria in September
By Ernest Ekpenyong

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Gom Slam organisation has concluded arrangements to have the American tennis sensations, the Williams Sisters tour the country in September as part of efforts to revive Nigerian tennis which has been in comatose for years now.

Co-ordinator of the Washington DC- based organisation in Nigeria, Emma Okocha, who disclosed this to THISDAYSports in an exclusive chat, said the body has secured the permission of the Williams to have at least one of them play exhibition matches in Abuja, Lagos and Enugu during the tour.

Okocha pointed out that Gom Slam believes that the presence of the Williams Sisters in the country will inspire a lot of kids who will watch the exhibition matches.

He said that as part of events leading to the historic visit, the body plans to honour the Lagos State Governor, Senator Ahmed Tinubu and his Enugu State counterpart, Chief Chimaroke Nnamani in recognition of their support and promotion of tennis in the country.

Okocha pointed out that following on the success of the Asaba Winners Takes All Tournament and award ceremony, the organisation would next week present outstanding Tennis Pathfinders Award to former Nigeria champion, Patrick Obi at the Enugu Sports Club.

Please Full Impregnable Security Must Be Provided To These My Dazzling Duo!

Emma my full-blooded Biafran brother, one whose great foot-works dazzled the world as well in his own sport, football, soccer in Yankee tongue, JJ’s elder brother and most importantly, the Author of “The Blood on the Niger”, all patriotic Biafrans like me are saluting you for trying to bring these our shiny sisters home. I know the Lagos and Abuja thing are mere embellishments.

I have always said that these girls need to go to the Land of the Rising Sun. That is where their African ancestors have their umbilical chords buried. From their father’s deft instincts, the girls quests and determination for individual accomplishments, there can only be one inference. Their root is somewhere among those that match the magic of these girls in their own games, whatever the name of the game.

Sure, we shall be there to roll out the best that are there in our rich and enviable culture to treat them as the “Adaezes” that they are. We shall all be there to ensure that Eze Nri, the holder of the ofo of the cradle of our civilisation, gives Mr Richard appropriate title with appropriate Red Cap and accompanying feathers. Yes tennis, we will do all that. But we will not fail to use this opportunity to reclaim ours.

This being the case, we know that some talibanic infested souls will try to spoil things. Therefore, my Biafran brother, Emma Okocha, Ex Rangers international star, one of the Flying Antelopes that restored our pride after the wicked siege, Ex BNW Green Eagles International, must work with the appropriate quarters to ensure that a security scheme better than the best, is put in place for my unassuming, but beautiful, glamorous and glittering sisters, their dependable mom and their indomitable lion father. Mz na Odoziaku R. Williams, Nwada Venus Williams na Nwada Serena Williams, anyi nile na-asi unu nno o! Ndi ije nno nu o!!

Tomorrow the Williams meet at the Wimbledon Ladies' final.

They are simply amazing and I was so excited to see Serena beat her sister, Venus for the Frenche open a few weeks back. Terrific stuff.

Yesterday Serena was banging the ball off at a speed of about 117Miles Per Hour ie nearly twice the normal speed limit of a coach in England. And we all used to scream when Alan Shearer, an oyibo soccer player sends the ball to the net at 80 Miles per hours.

Whatever happens tomorrow, the Wimbledon Ladies trophy is going to the Williams home. The oyibo girl Serena dismissed yesterday was upset and she quipped: The all Williams affair is becoming very boring.

Who cares? Certainly not me.

Women's Wimbledon has come and gone. But what a game! The Williams sisters gave us the best Women's finals ever. Serena prevailed.

Is it true that the Africa tour is on hold?
