Kanu Nwankwo is getting married. I am very happy for him. [Smile] [Smile]

However, is he still going to be playing professional soccer/football after tying the knot—and how good is he likely to be then? Shall we discover that this will have been indeed the final nail in the coffin of Kanu’s once legendary football/soccer career?

SOME state governors, particularly those from the South-East and South-South, are expected at tomorrow’s wedding of Nigeria’s international footballer, Nwankwo Kanu, in Owerri, the Imo State capital.

Reliable sources said at least two of the governors may be physically present at the event while others would be represented by their deputies or senior government officials.

Two sports-loving governors from the South-South are said to be taking a second look, yesterday, at their schedules for the day to see the possibility of juggling same and making out time to be at the event.

Already, Owerri is wearing a new, ceremonial look ahead of the wedding which would feature international and Nigerian celebrities.

Sources in the planning committee of the wedding said the event would also witness a large number of leading politicians.

Nwankwo has already checked into one of the suites of the five-star Imo Concorde Hotel waiting to receive distinguished guests. The hotel is main venue of the wedding reception.

Preparations for the ceremony have been on for about one month and involved many groups and persons, including the Imo State Government which promised to beef up security.

Nwankwo took the first nuptial shot last Saturday at Amuvi Arochukwu, Abia State, where eminent personalities witnessed his traditional wedding with Miss Amarachi Onyeador.

The soccer idol has also visited several places in Imo State since he returned from abroad last week, including Government House, Owerri, where he consulted with the Deputy Governor, Chief Ebere Udeagu.

High quality entertainment is being prepared at Imo Concorde Hotel, All Seasons Hotel and others for the arriving guests besides the usual Imo hospitality.

Made in Nigeria will never become a reality because Nigerians and the system are so much fixated with alien products. Case in Point, the Nigerian football coach, Christian Chukwu. Why let him go when he has done more good than the previous alien and local coaches combined? if you replace him, you might as well replace all, including the sport Minister.

America is never known in the eyes of the world as soccer craze but their coach is local and has performed better than any alien coach in US record because they believe in American made for the Americans. But Nigeria has switched 3 coaches since the Olympic games in Atlanta and USA has maintained one.
Whats next, Nigeria may be looking for an American coach not too long, so long he is alien. I will be damned.

Hail biafra
