THE APRIL 2003 GENERAL ELECTIONS AND NDI-IGBO (THE WAY FORWARD FOR NDI-IGBO)

The Coalition of Igbo Youth Organisations (CIYO) watched with uneasy calm the mass fraud and mayhem that characterized the April 12 & 19 2003 general elections in Nigeria and the realization that there is a game plan to further destroy, fractionalize, debase, disunite and completely splinter Ndi-Igbo in the entity called Nigeria.

After thorough deliberations, analysis and investigations of the April 12 & 19, 2003 National Assembly and Gubernatorial / Presidential elections respectively, CIYO completely condemn in its entirety the whole process of electioneering and conduct of these elections which violent and fraudulent consequences marked the disapproval of voters in the process of the May 3, 2003 State Assembly elections in the aspect of low or rather no turnout at the said polls of May 3, 2003 and in response CIYO posits as follows: -

1. That the whole elections of April 12 & 19, 2003 and that of May 3, 2003 was against the will of Ndi-Igbo and the generality of Nigerians therefore should be canceled.

2. That the April 12, 2003 National Assembly Elections was marked by outright violence, fraud and intimidations which occasioned several deaths, maiming and carnages in Igbo Land and elsewhere in Nigeria therefore was not free and fair as it was against the Will of Ndi-Igbo.

3. That the April 19, 2003 Governorship / Presidential Elections was characterized with gross malpractices which included electoral fraud, intimidations, harassments, ballot hijacking & stuffing and gross falsification of results as against the Will and vote of Ndi-Igbo therefore should be rejected and canceled.

4. That the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) candidates in the Governorship elections in the South East were robbed of the mandate given to them by Ndi-Igbo as the results announced went contrary to the bidding of the Igbo voters in the Zone.

5. That Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu of the APGA won majority of the total votes cast during the just concluded Presidential election in the South-East and South-South with an approximate of more than 10 million votes as against the 1.3 million total votes announced by the INEC.

6. That all the five Eastern States be immediately given to APGA in respect to the National Assembly and Governorship elections because contrary to results announced, APGA won very convincingly in the two named elections in the five said States.

7. That the total clamp-down and massacre of MASSOB members and other Pro-Biafran Activists be put to a stop and immediate investigations into those cases carried out in regards to those extra-judicial and genocidal killings.

8. That all the “Royal Fathers” from Igbo land that went to Abuja to congratulate President Obasanjo on his “Re-election” of the 2003 falsehood called election be completely sanctioned by Ndi-Igbo.

9. That those “Royal Fathers” shall openly apologize to Ndi-Igbo and make a written, published apologies in National Dailies or otherwise be ostracized and ex-communicated by Ndi-Igbo.

10. That we are totally against electoral Tribunals as there are no moral and logical justification of these Tribunals since there are no Form EC8A1 which is to have been signed at all polling stations by all party agents, which these agents would presented before these Tribunal to enable them commence trial.

11. That aggrieved persons going to the Tribunal without the Form EC8A1 would amount to giving credibility to the whole fraud perpetuated by the INEC & the PDP in the April 2003 elections.

12. That the INEC Chairman, Dr. Abel Goubadia, the Inspector General of Police, Mr. Tafa Balogun, the Defence Minister, Gen. Theophilus Danjuma and Minister of Information, Prof. Jerry Gana should resign immediately for their roles before, during and after the elections which were all geared to give the falsehood called elections a clean bill.

13. That the President of the Christian Association Of Nigeria (CAN), His Eminent, Dr. Sunday Mbang, Prelate of the Methodist Church of Nigeria should resign for his general misrepresentation of the Christian Faith and his comment that the fraudulent elections was free and fair and without violence while hundreds of people (mostly Christians) were either killed, maimed, kidnapped or assassinated by party thugs and hired assassins before and during these elections.

14. That Miss Isioma Daniels who was forced to leave Nigeria due to threat to her life by the Fatwa placed on her by the Zamfara State Deputy Gov. should return unconditionally with immediate effect.

15. That the crisis in Warri which exposed the incompetence of the Federal Govt. to protect its citizens be put to a halt and the demands of the Ijaw, Itshekiri, Urhobo etc be met in the “War Zone” in other to stop the further waste of Lives and properties that of Igbos living in Warri inclusive.

16. That an Interim National Government (ING) be set-up to conduct fresh elections that is free from fraud, malpractices and violence.

17. That a Sovereign National Conference (SNC) be convened for the deliberation of all Ethnic Nationalities in Nigeria on the individual and collective co-existence of the peoples in Nigeria.

THE WAY FORWARD FOR NDI-IGBO IN NIGERIA

Going by the current fraud against Ndi-Igbo in the current electoral processes in which Ndi- Igbo was not only disfranchised, defrauded, deprived, robbed, maimed and cheated but also humiliated by the denial of the All Progressive Grand Alliance (APGA) of the mandate of Ndi-Igbo and their surrounding brothers in the past elections of April 12 & 19, 2003 respectively; it is now very clear that Ndi-Igbo do not have any future in the entity called Nigeria or rather are not regarded in Nigeria as a stakeholder in the false Union. Consequent upon the deprivation of all the APGA candidates who contested for the April 12 & 19, 2003 general elections of the mandate of Ndi-Igbo especially that of Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu which is tantamount to Spitting Ndi-Igbo on the face and asking them what they can do, these day light robbery against Ndi-Igbo in their very backyard is a clear indication that Ndi-Igbo have been taking for a ride and we (Ndi-Igbo) must fight back now.

CIYO posits that the only way forward for Ndi-Igbo in Nigeria is a round table discussion where Ndi-Igbo will be made to understand whether or not they are needed in Nigeria.

CIYO hereby declares in unequivocal terms that Igbo youths in this 54 vanguard Igbo Youths Coalition is now ready to resist any further attempt to beautify these fraud called elections and are hereby ready to call for a mass action against these frauds if the elections are not canceled and a fresh election carried out by a competent electoral body to be set up by an Interim National Government (ING) different from the exiting INEC.

CIYO shall stand by the decisions of Igbo Elders at Enugu on May 4, 2003, and shall support any mass action ordered by Igbo Elders or the very symbol of Igbo progress, Dim Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu whose mandate by Ndi-Igbo on April 19, 2003 was fraudulently stolen from him.
