BIAFRA NATIONAL UNION (BIANU) PROTESTS AT THE WHITE HOUSE
In commemoration of the 36th anniversary of Biafra’s Independence, and to raise awareness of Americans about the massacres of Igbo/Biafran Christians by the Obasanjo- led Nigerian government and his Moslem masters, members and friends of the Biafra National Union (BIANU), a group dedicated to the actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra through non- violent action, and the promotion of unity among all Igbo/Biafran nationalist groups, held a peaceful demonstration at the White House on May 30, 2003.
The demonstrators, who came from various states in the US, carried placards which read, “ Obasanjo: Release Uwazurike Now,” “ Obasanjo: Election Thief, Thief,” “ BIANU Supports Bush’s War on Terrorism,” “ BIANU Supports Ojukwu and the Igbo National Assembly,” “ Obasanjo: Stop Killing Peaceful Igbo and Ogoni Civilians,” “ Nigeria is DEAD: BIAFRA LIVES FOREVER,” “ America: Save Igbo Christians from Osama bin Laden and Islamic Violence,” “Sovereign National Conference: Last Chance for Peace in Nigeria.”
The protest, which lasted for three hours, received the full support of the White House Security, some of whom graciously allowed their pictures to be taken with the demonstrators.
In a press release, BIANU condemns: (1) The massacres by the Nigerian Police of peaceful and unarmed Igbo/Biafran civilians, especially the recent Onuimo attack in which Nigerian troops killed or arrested over 300 unarmed civilians (2) The increasing popularity of Osama bin Laden in Nigeria and Islamic violence against Biafran Christians (3) The rigging of Nigeria’s recent elections by the corrupt and violent Obasanjo regime.
It demands (1) The immediate and unconditional release of Chief Ralph Uwazurike, the leader of the non-violent Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB) and members of his organization, who have been imprisoned for several months without trial by the Nigerian government (2) The arrest and prosecution of all Nigerian security personnel involved in the shooting of unarmed civilians, which is a crime against humanity and, therefore, punishable by the International Criminal Court to which Nigeria is signatory. (3) The repatriation of the violent and oppressive Nigerian occupation troops from Igboland and Biafra.
Finally, BIANU has resolved to take the following actions until its demands are met: (1) To engage in regular demonstrations and vigils at the Nigerian embassy in Washington, DC (2) To mount a massive telephone and email campaign against the anti-Igbo /Biafran policies of the corrupt and violent Obasanjo regime.
Call/email the following to compel the Obasanjo regime to release Chief Ralph Uwazurike and to desist from killing unarmed Igbo civilians: Colin Powell, Secretary of State: 202-647-5291; Condoleezza Rice, Assistant to President for National Security Affairs, The White House: 202-456-9491; Walter Kansteiner, Assistant Secretary of State, African Affairs: 202-647-2530; Nigeria: Country Desk at the State Department: 202-647-3469; Senator Lamar Alexander (R-TN), Chair, Senate Subcommittee on African Affairs: 202-224-4944; Russell Feingold (D-WI): Russell feingold@feingold.senate.gov; Richard Lugar (R-IN): Senator lugar@lugar.senate.gov; Senator Joseph Biden (D-DE): Senator@biden,Senate.gov; Rep. Ed Royce (R-CA), Chair, House International Relations Committee on Africa: 202-225-4111; Rep Donald Payne (D-NJ): payne@mail.house.gov; Dr. Jendayi Frazier, Senior Director for African Affairs, National Security Council, The White House: 202-456-9621; Bobby Pittman, Director of African Affairs, National Security Council, The White House (West Africa Division): 202-456-9261
Whether you contact the above by phone or email, remember to: (1) Introduce yourself and your organization (2) Calmly state why you are making the contact- For example, the immediate release of Uwazurike and how his continued detention, the killing of unarmed Igbo and Ogoni civilians by the Nigerian Police/military, and the recent rigging of the elections, especially in Igboland, could lead to war (3) Express gratitude to US government for recent reduction in military assistance to the Obasanjo regime because of the violence of Nigerian troops in Eastern Nigeria. But state that the US needs to put more pressure on Nigeria to stop the killing of innocent civilians.
Heed the call: PARTICIPATE, AGITATE, ADVOCATE, LIBERATE!!
Your accusation is ridiculous. When is the responsibility of the protesters to take a picture of their protest that shows their faces? Why don’t you blame the photographer that took that picture or better yet why did you not have your photographer take the picture with the protesters faces. Go get a life.

You are confused. As far as I could tell, the placards said "Obasanjo forgive us for our sins," "Uncle Sege Abeg Give us Jobs and we will Forget Biafra," "We don't Support Ojukwu," etc. Those people look like criminals who hiding their faces after arrest. Posts: 167 | Registered: Mar 2001

I Think you are using the term "419" rather loosely. What is "419" about a group of dedicated people putting their words into action. Your subterfuge will not work, at least they are able to assemble and express their dissent. Could the same be said of your maximum dictator practicing a sham "Democracy"? Many people from the Southwest have endorsed the new "Dictatocracy" by their reticence. Here is Prof. Wole Soyinka circa Dec. of 1998 in a publication on USAFricaonline.com and USAfrica The Paper titled: Into 1999, and Reflections on 1998 as a year of Rapid Reverses He said and I quote "An interrogation of the very essence of nationhood has been inserted into daily consciuosness, and it is an interrogation that will not be smothered." Huh! I am yet to hear from the Learned Professor.
Quote: "The advent of one megalomaniac, who swept aside all questions of nation existence by the simple process of arrogating the entire nation to himself, to his clique and cronies, has of course further galvanised this thinking, inserting the possibility that maybe, just maybe one way to ensure that this aberration never again occurs, is to look into, and modify the very structures of nation being that made such a monstrosity possible"
What do we have now.
He continued: "For if the unthinkable could happen once, and the internal arrangements of the nation are not drastically overhauled and rendered more equitable, then of course the temptations to repeat that phase of our history will remain with us, and we may wake up tommorow to discover that a clone of what we now call an aberration has resurrected while we slept, or busied ourselves with the scramble for electoral power"
The clone and megalomaniac is here!!
Then he says, and I quote: " And now it my duty to offer you on behalf of the staff and contributors to Radio Kudirat, the ritualistic but sincere wishes for a Happier New Year than we have known hitherto, one that we hope will inaugurate an era purged definitely of dictatorship"
All we have seen thus far is deja vu in disguise!!
NADECO, and all the Democracy "stalwarts" should all hide their head in the sand.

You have told us what Soyinka said. Now, tell us what Achebe has said. If Obasanjo is fine with Achebe, why are you people protesting in America?
Is it not a shame that you folks went protesting in the land of freedom, but you made yourselves prisoners by hiding your faces in shame?

You just confirmed for the whole world to see that you are retarded. Calling that picture with Castro a protest says a lot about your mental capacity.
Castro is a Dictator as such those where not protesters but supporters. So don't make false statements that your brain dead self should know that is untrue.
Deal with it.

In the thinking of an intellectual midget, it is inconceivable that a dictator and his supporters could take part in a protest. Now, I really know why they call you the gutter mouth of BNW.Posts: 167 | Registered: Mar 2001

Only a fool like Kunle will start such a stupid argument. Kunle get u something better to talk about for the sake of God close your trap.
One thing u have to get used to is that the struggle for Biafra will continue and no amount of intimidation, accusations, propaganda, and caricature, can stop it.

Like Nwabiafra like odili, two lousy foul-mouths with nothing between their ears. If you will protest by hiding yourself, why bother? Nigeria has nothing to worry about from people who are hiding from the camera and hiding their placards. If you want to hide why don't you hide inside your house instead of making a fool of yourself in Washington?

You are the one without anything between your eyes. When I said Castro was a Dictator and refered to those those around him as supporters, what I was saying is that it was not a real protest, those people were all compelled to be there. Only a Retard like you would not understand what I was trying to say.
Further, Castro and his people were protesting in their homeland unlike those people protesting outside their homeland in Washington DC.
Can you show me where your brother Obasanjo and yoruba people have protested any injustice done to BiafraNigeria by the West like Castro is doing? What it tells me is that you, yorubas and Obasanjo are all cowards.
