PRESS RELEASE

THE DEATH OF DR. CHUBA OKADIGBO SHOULD BE PROBED

The Civil Rights and Development Organisation (CRIDO) demands for the immediate constitution of an judicial Panel of Enquiry into the circumstances surrounding the sudden death of Dr. Chuba Okadigbo. The imperativeness of CRIDO’s demand arises from the fact that Dr. Okadigbo died after he inhaled teargas smoke and was subjected to stress and torture incompatible with his status in the society, his age and his mental frame.

Furthermore, our demand is founded on the fact that the action of the Police was an arbitration of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that guarantees Citizens the Right to freedom of Assembly.
CRIDO demand that the Police should make available the reasons to justify their actions particularly when it is of common knowledge that the Kano rally lacked the capacity to breach the public peace and tranquility.

Uche Okwukwu Esq. (Executive Director, CRIDO)

NwaMazi Obinna Okoro (Head, Democracy & Good Governance Bureau, CRIDO)
