APPEAL FOR DONATIONS TO ANA SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM
The Association of Nigerians Abroad (ANA) (www.ananet.org) believes that academic excellence is a hallmark of any educational system and it should be a non-negotiable fundamental objective of governments, individuals and progressive organizations. On this basis, ANA is appealing to all Nigerians and friends of Nigeria to join it in sustaining, expanding, and nurturing this scholarship program by donating generously to the ANA Scholarship Fund.
ANA STATUS ANA is a non-profit, non-ethnic, non-religious, and non-partisan organization in all its dealings with the people and government of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and the outside world. However, the association shall consistently and unequivocally advocate for democratic ideals, human rights, the rule of law, fairness, justice, and equity in Nigeria and for all Nigerians. The composition of the association reflects the rich ethnic and cultural diversity of Nigeria.
BACKGROUND HISTORY OF THE SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAM ANA initiated the scholarship program in 1999, and by the end of 2003, it has awarded twenty-two scholarships to the following Nigerian students that are or were studying in Nigerian universities:
1999/2000 (N10,000 each). Ada Ukachukwu-University of Benin; Lateef Ayanbode Adebisi-University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Oluwatosin A. Oyekanmi-University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Taiwo Adewale-University of Agriculture, Abeokuta; Chinwe F. N. Onyiliofor-University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

During the above two award periods, Ms. Chinwe Onyiliofor of the University of Nigeria, Nsukka, was awarded the scholarship. As a visually challenged PhD student, her sheer courage and desire to succeed did not allow her disability in adulthood to be a barrier.
2002/2003 (N20,000 each) Olusola Frank-Federal Univ of Tech, Akure; Ganiyu A. Adegbite-Federal Univ of Tech, Akure; Adetutu Olakunle-Federal Univ of Tech, Akure; Adeyemi S. During this award period, ANA recognized Adetutu Olakunle, who, despite his physical challenges, keeps working toward his dream. The 2003/2004 scholarship round is now in full swing and ANA believes it can count on the goodwill of past and future donors to support this selfless and laudable effort for the purpose of promoting academic excellence and assisting the needy students.
Disbursal and Management of Funds ANA has established a time-tested mechanism for receiving, screening, granting and disbursing the awards to the successful candidates. Our efficient management system is driven by Nigerian professionals and students of high integrity and sense of purpose. It ensures that 100% of all donations to the Fund are strictly committed to the awards. ANA is in direct contact with all universities in Nigeria, and has a Nigerian based representative that coordinates the association's activities.
DONATIONS ARE TAX-DEDUCTIBLE ANA is a registered non-profit, charitable organization with tax-exempt status under Section 501 (c){3} of the United States IRS code. JOIN ANA IN RESTORING ACADEMIC EXCELLENCE TO NIGERIAN EDUCATION
Signed, Dr. Robert Okojie Public Relations Secretary pubrelations@ananet.org
That list leaves much to be desired: It doesn't relflect Federal BiafraNigerian character. For an association of BiafraNigerians abroad that list may well be a Yoroba scholarship fund, never mind the handful of "Ibo" sounding names. I'm disappointed that a Yoroba who attends Igbo days celebration with Alexie will use umuIgbo to raise fund for the education of Yorobas.
Here's the appalling stats:
1999/Y2K Yoroba students beneficiaries 60% Y2K01/Y2K02 Yoroba students beneficiaries 57% Y2K02/Y2K03 Yoroba students beneficiaries 70%

What's going on here? Are you part of this scam? We all know that more Igbo people go to school than Yoruba people. So, how come more Yoruba people are getting scholarship from "ANA?"
Enquiring minds want to know!

Appeal to sponsor yoruba students. Instead we are going to have Biafran scholarship award to sponsor Biafrans only. The yoruba already have Obasanjo doing it for them.
