Ikpatt,

Hmm...ame anam eti utom. Nno edi!

I'm liking it. Here's more translation.

Today, tomorrow, yesterday, when, hear, where is, how about this?, can I see you?, I love you, how old are you, life is too short, no sorrow.

>>>BTW, where is that Ohafia man who pretended he could speak almighty Ibibio than me?<<<

Idem eti. OU acts as a "Principal" for checks and balances; and so far, you've been good.

Ikpatt, it's good to get a reassurance from you that life is too short; and you bore no grudge. I'll believe you as soon as you acknowledge that Biafra is a just cause for us all.

Amanda, what makes you think I understand Igbo or that another in ROMland also benefitting from these translations do? I think it will be best if you or another match with Igbo translations.

For example, what are the Igbo translations for the following:

Today, "Mfin"

Tomorrow, "Mkpong"**

Yesterday, "Mkpong"**
**Context of statement implies time frame.

When, "Ini eke"

Hear, "Kop"

Where is, "Ke Mmo"

How about, "Ke Abanga" As in concerning

This?, "Enye emi?"

Can I see you?, "Mme keme ukit?"

I love you, "Mme uma fien"

How old are you, "Odo isua ifang"

Life is too short, "Uwen ikpeneke"

No sorrow, "Mbom ibagha".

If any one, say an Xhosa or Ibibio man wants to learn Ibo, such one could easily match words and compare translations.

That is what I meant.

I'm with you here jeje.

Alright, Bature, Adamu, Muda Kaduna and Mustapha; we're all eyes and ears.
Let's hear some Awusa/Tiv/Borno languages before the unmasking fireworks begin.

Ikpatt,

Whatever happened to our Ibibio/Efik language class? It can't have been over so soon, can it?

Aluko,

Please spill the beans. If it's Ikpatt, I swear I'd wring his neck. But on the other hand, I'd be more sympathetic toward this Hausa-hiding fellow. At least, he knows that the deeds of his tribe merits his being under cover. Understandably, he's carrying a heavy yoke. We could help him lighten it.

Please Aluko, tell me. I promise I'd extol the virtues of amala eating, if you do (lol)...though I have no idea what it looks or tastes like.
Hmm...you seem like real live pepper soup.

I think Aluko did great justice to the Hausa language translation. The words even sound pleasing to the lips... I don't know aboout the ears, though.

So, what do you think? Did Aluko translate them real nice?

You can rule Clement Ikpatt out as the Hausa source of the Hausa translation on this forum. Rule yourself out too, Amanda. Then rule me out.

But EVERY OTHER PERSON HERE, including chiboy and even Biafra - don't rule them out!
To do so is at your own peril.

As I said, you will not believe who quickly sent me the translations, but he/she has my FIRM COMMITMENT not to reveal the name, because people's jaws will drop! :-)

Mobolaji Aluko,

You seem to be doing an Alfred Hitchcock on me. I bet you're relishing every nano second of it, huh?

It seem like Ikpatt will be retaining his neck afterall. I could almost hear his sigh of relief.

But you know, even if this Hausa guy turns out to be one of my pro-Biafra brethrens, I'd still love him/her. Why is it so? Anyone who picks up his/her cross to follow Biafra Actualization cause is dearest to me. So, if I have been a little testy toward him/her in the past, perhaps, some conciliatory provisions could be in order.

Soon, we'd all be able to decipher how your Ifa Oracle works.

Very interesting Chiboy is onye Awusa, but what kind of man are you that can't even keep a little secret? Is this how you run your OPC police affairs ?

It's one thing to raise doubt on Chiboy's Identity, but the most laughable aspect of your innuendo is the aspersion you cast on bro. Biafra's Igboness. I know an Igbo when he speaks, and you just lost your credibility on this one.

I think you should stick to disseminating your pro Awo propaganda and leave the Alfred Hitchcock thing to the experts.

You can vouch for Biafra's "Igboness", but casting a doubt on your own "Igboness" is understandable, ehn?

Na wa o!

Well, at the Last Supper, after he said one of His disciples would betray him, Jesus' disciples started to ask: "Is it I, Lord? Is it I?", until He said, "It is he who dips his hand with me here, who will betray me."

There may be a parallel here, and yet there may not be!

As I said, I shall not reveal name here: nobody wants to be "Nwobodo'ed" for being Igbo and "speaking" so much Hausa on BiafraNigeriaWorld! :-)

I can now with 100% tell you that you are wrong, Brother Chiboy is 100% Igbo there is no iota of doubt on that. As for yours truely you know quite well that I am 100% Igbo. You know not to mess with me. My name is in your data bank during the days you were collecting signatures for SNC. At the time I thaught you were serious about starting a movement to force your brother Aremu to convene a soverign National Copnference. I was among the first people to sign that petition. Then after you went to OPC meeting you pulled Awo on on us again.

I have chalked that one where I put other yoruba and Igbo alliance. Is there any more doubt left why many Biafrans say don't trust a yoruba. If you can not follow through on simple national conference mobilisation why should we trust you with anything. By the way Dr Aluko what did you do with our signatures you collected. What happened to the petition did your brother Aremu gave you some money to shot you up. Now thinking about it, I think you owe us an explanation about what you did with our signatures.

Nnamdi "Biafra:"

1. I just checked the SNC letter list, and saw no "Biafra" signed on. Did I miss something, or what name did you sign on as? Inquiring minds want to know.

2. I owe it to tell you and others that I have PERSONALLY handed that SNC letter to as many legislators and to as many governors and Federal Ministers as I have been able to meet both in Washington and Nigeria, and mailed it to Obasanjo. My commitment - and that of others - to an SNC is unshakeable.

3. Just yesterday or so, the following was reported in The Guardian:

quote:

And on the media chat, the President said the ball on the clamour for a Sovereign Conference is in the court of the legislature.

"I cannot make a law to establish a National Conference. The National Assembly must make a law, he said."

Obasanjo, who once again listed hurdles on the path of such a conference however, said he would not be opposed to it if the agitators succeeded in getting the National Assembly to make a law establishing a National Conference.

"If I am in government, I must have a guideline to work with. If you can get the National Assembly to make a law tomorrow establishing a National Conference, so be it," he said.

The issue of the SNC will not go away anytime soon, Obasanjo or no Obasanjo, National Assembly or no national assembly.

4. Please check out http://www.ngex.com/snc for an archive of the continuing Sovereign National Conference convenance effort. It is not being done with guns blazing - it is a yeast, raising the dough.

5. I will not be responsible for your atavism in connection with native "betrayal" suspicions about others: sometimes it has to do with youthful exhuberance and propaganda-induced upbringing. But I must confess that that you are paranoid does not mean that somebody is not out to get you.

6. Too many of you are simply wide-eyed fanatics: you won't change your minds, and you won't change the subject. That is according to Churchill. Fanatics NEVER win anything they set their minds on, because they are incapable of sound judgement at those critical times when such judgement count the most.

Jissike.

Mobolaji Aluko,

I believe that the translation of the following words could enhance your Igbo language in print.
Every time you murder an Igbo word thru misspelling, I wince a little.

Incorrect Igbo = Correct Igbo

Jissike = Jisie ike or Jis'ike

Inu ihe nkuru? = I nuru ihem kwuru?

Ezioku = Ezi okwu

Nwoke'm = Nwokem

Come to think of it, you imitate Igbo language speech like my Edo friend.

The issue of SNC will not go away anytime soon, Obasanjo or no Obasanjo, National Assembly or no national assembly.--Mobolaji Aluko
